Welcome to Sugarview Farm, home of the Kelenskes and Devonshire cattle. We are a 5th generation farm in Leelanau County. We are truly blessed to live and work here. Over the years we have transitioned from general farming which grandparents and parents did, to dairy farming which Anna May and I did with our children for over 25 years.

Now our kids are grown and have families and careers of their own, but their ties and love for the farm still remain. Our sons have an integral role in keeping the farm going, while our daughters play more supportive roles. Curtis especially has always been interested in the genetics and improvement of the animals, through selective breeding. We have been using artificial breeding for years. Now Curtis owns several of our mother cows. Anna May and Curtis also do a wonderful job of marketing, delivering, and telling the story of our grass fed beef.

This brings us to the current chapter of our Devonshire Cattle. Devons, as they are commonly referred to, are an English breed. They are mostly red in color although some can be black. They have been around since Colonial times. They are easy keepers, great foragers, and good mothers. They are very gentle and docile, which makes them a pleasure to work with. Their biggest attribute though, is their ability to convert grass and legumes,(exclusively) into tender, flavorful beef. This makes for a totally unique flavor in taste and texture.

This is part of our story, thanks for letting us share with you. As always, you are welcome to come and visit us. We're most likely outside tending to the cattle, so please call ahead at 231-649-5371 (Anna May) or 231-649-7111 (Curtis). We enjoy questions and comments; feel free to e-mail us at hello@sugarviewfarm.com or give us a call.

We look forward to working with you!

For the love of cows. For the love of the land.

That’s why we do it.
